Albert Hofmann, Father of LSD in 1993The father of LSD-25, Albert Hofmann died in Switzerland at the ripe old age of 102 on Tuesday, April 30th 2008. Hofmann, an accomplished Swedish chemist came across the powerful hallucinogen on April 16th, 1943 while working on synthesizing chemicals from ergot.

His discovery of the hallucinogenic properties of LSD had inadvertently defined culture — in particular those ‘damn hippies.’

RIP Albert. Apparently, acid only prolonged his life. Funk ensues to this day.
