Blogging Origins

I’m an old-school blogger and website developer/designer. Originally, I had a blog called ‘Lunarlog’ (off of my main website Lunarstudio which started off on a very good note and gained a fair amount of popularity. That blog had been created in a time when most people never even heard of the term ‘blog.’ I had used an early system that I installed and hooked in called Movabletype (famous for bloggers blogging on Typepad.) Over a short amount of time, Lunarlog fell into a very sad state of disrepair.

Q: Why do you have the name Mightyfunk?

A: Because every singular word for domain names in the english language has already been taken or put on market for exorbitant prices. I went down a list of names that sounded catchy, but all of them had been nabbed. Then I went down two-word domain names and this suddenly popped into my head for no apparent reason whatsoever. I was actually surprised that it was available. I was even more surprised that the .net and mightyfunky.com was available which I quickly registered.

There’s really no simple answer. However, I can list a few reasons:

Personal Reasons:

  1. Ego. Yes, I like to blab sometimes…
  2. Being social. As much as I’m embarrassed to admit, I do occasionally find people fascinating.
  3. Sharing artwork, photos, and music.
  4. Spreading strange and interesting news. When I come across something incredibly stupid, I feel a moral obligation to share these findings with others.
  5. Possibly getting a few friends to get together to create a community of interesting posts.
  6. Boredom. I have a slight break from real work and thought this could be fun to do…
