Okay, so I don’t know exactly what they are serving at this gala-dinner event. And no, the title of this post is not intended to be racist but to point out a dichotomy between ‘expensive’ and a relatively ‘cheap’ food source. Chicken wings just happen to come to mind. If it makes the reader happy, I suppose I can change ‘chicken wing dinner’ to ‘fish fry’ even tho a fish fry would probably cost more. But why bother me about semantics.

In a few days (or weeks) from now, an acquaintance will be attending a dinner event with Barack Obama. The price tag? $4,000.

Yep, you heard right. It’s not cheap.

Is this out of the norm for a political campaign ‘fund raiser’? Absolutely not. In fact, I’m certain the prices are similar for having Doritos with Clinton and Pringles with McCain. It still doesn’t hide the fact that this is an awful waste of money for the opportunity to rub shoulders with someone who probably even have the time to talk with you. I’d much rather see the money ‘wasted’ going to a soup kitchen or an elderly care facility.

If it comes down to Obama as a Presidential candidate, I will vote for him. But ultimately, I suppose this fancy-pants dinner is for a ‘good’ cause — the ‘lesser’ of all evils.

I just hope for my acquaintance’s sake it’s open bar…
