Lunarstu­dio (www.lunarstudio.com) is proud to announce the com­ple­tion of the Blue Cross Blue Shield archi­tec­tural ren­der­ing series. This involves the $114 mil­lion Blue Cross Blue Shield “Green” head­quar­ters to be built at the Prov­i­dence, Rhode Island Cap­i­tal Cen­ter. For this project, the 3D ren­der­ing firm has been col­lab­o­rat­ing closely with the archi­tec­ture, engi­neer­ing, and inte­rior design firm Symmes Maini & McKee Asso­ciates Inc. (www.smma.com) based out of Cam­bridge, Mass­a­chu­setts. Lunarstudio’s work involved still ren­der­ings and ani­ma­tions fol­low­ing the lead and direc­tion of the inte­rior design­ers at SMMA. Lunarstu­dio pro­duced over 30 still images dur­ing the entire design process. In total, four ani­ma­tions and seven still archi­tec­tural ren­der­ings were sub­mit­ted as final rep­re­sen­ta­tions of the new head­quar­ters. The BCBSRI build­ing will have 326,811 square feet. It will be 13 sto­ries and 200 feet tall. The Cap­i­tal Cen­ter Dis­trict is anchored by the sig­nif­i­cant pres­ence of the his­toric State­house. It is envi­sioned as an area of revi­tal­iza­tion and expan­sion of the down­town Prov­i­dence area. With this pos­tive form of growth, con­tem­po­rary archi­tec­ture plays an impor­tant role in estab­lish­ing char­ac­ter rel­e­vant to its era. SMMA’s inte­rior design for the new head­quar­ters includes open and demount­able closed offices, call cen­ter, cus­tomer ser­vice, con­fer­ence and train­ing suite, cafe­te­ria, fit­ness cen­ter, and sup­port spaces all of which reflect the company’s desire to address the heath and well­ness of its 1200 employ­ees.
