Mightyfunk is a collection of news articles and their excerpts from around the world regarding the various fields of design. It is an aggregator of headlines from design-related news websites and blogs. At its core, it doesn’t operate any different than Yahoo Pipes, iGoogle, Google News, and many other news-related websites. It operates by remotely skimming popular design websites, and pulls any new content directly from their RSS feeds.

If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to submit your website for review, please feel free to contact me.

Adding Your Website to MightyFunk Design News:

If you would like your website to be reviewed for inclusion in the MightyFunk aggregation list, please contact me with a valid URL and RSS feed and I will review your website shortly. My aim is to include relevant information with an emphasis on quality of content. Due to these standards, not every blog or news website will be accepted.

Guidelines for acceptance include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • No malware or viruses.
  • No illegal software links or downloads.
  • No illicit activities.
  • No pornography or adult-related content.
  • High frequency in writing and posting articles.
  • High-quality articles (informative, well-designed, insightful, and useful.)
  • Proper grammar.
  • Topic relevancy.
  • Website speed (slow websites will not be indexed.)
  • Well-formed RSS feed according to standards.
  • Proper W3C markup.

Copyright and SEO Concerns:

There are some valid concerns about this website reducing traffic to other websites. My statistics show that this website actually increases readership for these associated websites. As MightyFunk only post excerpts, not only does it provide additional links back to the original author websites resulting in increased backlinks, traffic, and visibility, but it also improves search engine optimization for those websites. In many ways, it works better than the old SEO method of listing your website in directories, and it is completely free.

In the past, SEO experts were concerned about penalties for duplicate content. Contrary to popular belief, Matt Cutts of Google recently explained there is no penalty for duplicate content. In this video, he explains that having content elsewhere can actually be very helpful to your audience.

If you still have concerns about this content or copyright issues, please let me know immediately and I will remove your website from the indexing as soon as possible.
