hi guys! i’ve been totally out of it all week traveling and preparing for this week’s talks and i just wanted to take a quick time out this morning to say thank you to everyone who came out to the d*s meetup on tuesday in portland, thank you to carla at adler & co for hosting all of us, and thanks to everyone at IDSA for having me as their keynote speaker and to all the kind people to talked to me afterwards with questions and ideas. it was truly an honor to represent the diy community at the event. today i’m headed to blogher for my final talk of the week and then i’m back to work on the final edits for the d*s book manuscript.

These two converted Airstream trailers (now art and writing studios respectively) are at the heart of that question in many ways – iconic symbols of a mobile society, RVs now recycled from aerodynamic campers into niche spaces. The first is still semi-mobile, but definitely local: the so-called “Tin Can Studio is a mobile project space housed in a converted 18ft Streamline trailer.
