Guest post by Thom Moran Possibly the most visually striking showroom and collection at NEOCON this year is Interface FLOR’s “Memphis Under Foot.” Beyond the boldly patterned carpets, the showroom featured a whimsical romper-room like installation, an augmented reality game based on said romper room, boldly patterned wallpapers, and a wall of stacked objects painted white including televisions playing 80’s inspired videos like La Roux’s “Bullet Proof.” All of this added up to a brightly-colored overload of eighties-ness that was successful in creating a totalizing atmosphere. After many months of work, Riz MC’s MICroscope experience goes live tonight, as does the interactive music video / underground lab created for him by Swarm Entertainment. Riz MC is a UK based actor and rapper whose new album project ‘MICroscope’ represents the next generation of live music events — an interactive musical narrative where the experience essentially becomes the product, blatantly blurring the line between audience and performer. The MICroscope experience goes live tonight in London and Swarm Entertainment and Rival Schools worked with Riz to develop the online component of the project, an interactive music video / underground lab (visit www.rizmc.com/lab ), which just launched.
