I’ve heard of using recy­cled mate­ri­als to build a house before. Recently we even fea­tured an arti­cle about a hotel made from garbage found on the beach ; how­ever, I’ve never heard of a house being built from a Boe­ing 747! Fran­cie Rehwald, who lives on 55 acres in Mal­ibu Hills, Cal­i­for­nia recently bought a 35-year-old retired 747 air­plane for $200,000.

Par­tic­i­pants were asked to focus on “The 2nd Space Age” by design­ing a home envi­ron­ment for the year 2050 when 74% of the world’s pop­u­la­tion is expected to live in urban areas. Entries addressed the areas of food prep and stor­age, as well as laun­dry and dish washing

The guys at Hack­a­day have pub­lished a step-by-step tuto­r­ial on how to take an old printer, and turn it into your very own t-shirt fac­tory. The process is referred to as Direct To Gar­ment (DTG) print­ing, and becomes sur­pris­ingly acces­si­ble thanks to fab­ric friendly inks that can be used in stan­dard inkjet printers.
