Capitalizing on Fear - CNBC

Bear with me a little bit - there is a ‘conspiracy’ I will mention, but first I need to elaborate:

I’ve been away from writing the last couple of weeks because I’ve become highly interested in investing. My motivation is that as I run my own business, I don’t have someone to hold my hand and tell me where my funds should be placed for retirement. Unfortunately, it’s something I need to think about - but I suppose I’m all the wiser for it.

Yahoo is Forgiven

I got ticked off a while ago and went out on a rant why Yahoo! should have sold to Microsoft. Basically, I got locked out of my own account and had to go through a 2-week reregistration process to get ‘my’ stuff back.

Truth be told, Yahoo! isn’t as useless as I made it out to be. It’s hard for me to believe, but people DO use Yahoo! as a search engine - and some alternative is better than a complete monopoly by Google (or any other search engine for that matter.)

Wikipedia equals Fail - Death to the Open Encyclopedia

It’s amazing to think that just about ‘anyone’ can write an article about ‘anybody’ or ‘anything’ on Wikipedia.

Is it just me, or does that concept seem faulty at best? The only advantage of this system is that masses of information can be quickly written and updated - but that does not necessarily mean that the people editing or administering this website are so-called ‘experts’ in the fields they are editing.

The Wikipedia system, although extremely popular at the moment has the word FAIL written all over it. I argue that it is a good place for reference, but people MUST remember (and must not forget) to take the articles posted there very lightly.

Soniccameras Internet Fraud

I suppose if you spend as much time as I do behind a computer, it’s only a matter of time before someone does a ‘better’ job of trying to take your cash. You all might be familiar of receiving emails from Nigeria - the famous 419 scam. You know, the ones with the sick or dying uncle or parent and they need to transfer money to your account?

The Nigerian Con-Artists and my Cadillac:

Well, in my old blog, I had a story about that where I actually got into an email shouting match with one of those Nigerian scammers who was trying to buy my old car, and he ended the conversation by saying:

I hate CAPTCHA

Perhaps the most annoyingly useful thing ever created. Too bad I always get them wrong.

This one wasn’t so bad - after three separate attempts…

Why Yahoo! Should Sell to Microsoft

No - I don’t have any stock in Microsoft or Yahoo! I’m also not stupid enough to buy stock in either one while their prices are inflated. The time to have done (in the early 90s if you had spare cash, foresight, or just got plain lucky) so has long since passed. So my interests don’t lie there. Recently it’s been reported in the news that Microsoft has been trying to acquire Yahoo and has put out their offer.

But why am I interested at the moment in whether or not Yahoo should sell to Microsoft? Let me lay out a few reasons for you:
